Description

Synopsis for "The Camera Eats First" Coca-Cola Commercial

Shot in the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria, "The Camera Eats First" captures the authentic, spontaneous interactions of a group of friends. Unlike traditional commercials, this project embraced a documentary style, filming unrehearsed and instinctively. We even swapped protagonists during shooting to ensure a more genuine and empathetic narrative. Coca-Cola bottles were deliberately clocked so labels weren't always facing the camera, contributing to the organic feel. Real friends, not actors, were featured, sharing genuine moments. The entire scene was shot in a continuous mise-en-scène style, enhancing the documentary-like quality and making the moments truly resonate with viewers.

Approach for the Series of Commercials

For the series of commercials, we will embrace a cinematic style that highlights realism and spontaneity. Our approach centers around loose camera work, employing handheld techniques to infuse each scene with a sense of immediacy and authenticity. This style will allow the camera to move fluidly, capturing the natural dynamics and unscripted moments that unfold within each frame.

We plan to extensively use long shots to establish the context of each scene, from the lively atmosphere of a family reunion to the intimate moments of a shared meal. These long shots are crucial in maintaining the overall narrative authority, ensuring that the viewer is not just an observer but feels immersed in the scene. By encompassing the entire setting in these shots, we can capture the essence and energy of the environment and the interactions within it.

This unrehearsed, almost documentary-like approach to filming will be pivotal across all commercials. It will enable us to capture those unplanned, authentic moments that resonate deeply with the audience. The goal is to let the scenes develop organically, allowing the characters and their surroundings to naturally drive the narrative.
