Description
Nigerians are known and respected for being proud and spirited, that is often shown in how we banter on social media. We banter every nation in key lifestyle occasions like Music, Dance, Food and the beautiful game - Football.
So, our thinking was that “Football is not always about the final glory, it’s all about the journey and bragging rights along the way”. Rather than discuss AFCON from a commentary POV, we decided to talk about the games from a fan banter POV to drive earn media attention
To execute this, we infused authentic slapstick humour into our content, captivating audiences from various nations. With the participation of celebrities and influencers who joined in on the banter, our campaign garnered significant attention and engagement across all social media platforms.
Our approach drove widespread earned media, successfully capturing the essence of football fan culture in our AFCON campaign. We can also say that collaboration, was the biggest asset of the campaign as we set up a dedicated, always-on team between the agency and the client. With the help of several generative AI platforms, we created tons of posters that kept fuelling the conversation and aiding virality. We also started to include motion videos toward the end of the campaign to elevate it further, creating trailers, motion posters, character cards etc.
This brought huge success for the brand, generating significant earned media attention and engagement throughout the AFCON tournament. The campaign captured the essence of what it means to be a football fan – passionate, competitive, and always ready for a bit of friendly banter.
