Nice set. Beautiful sense of craft involved in making these is evident.

The art approach here is very similar to the art approach deployed for an outdoor campaign for Newcastle Brown Ale. It also involved a (white) brick wall with copy on it. I wouldn't say this shows a "beautiful sense of craft". For me, It's an ok set of ads.

No.

Here's the thing atb: The Newcastle Ale campaign is different in at least one important respect. The Newcastle ads don't aim as high technically as these do, or if they do, they don't succeed nearly as well. They are simply new ads laid on a fake brick background. Craft doesn't figure into the Newcastles as much as simple professionalism.

These, on the other hand, mimic with a level of Photoshop craft that is truly rare what we in America call ghost signs. Google it. I have of course seen "antiquing" done in Photoshop. There's even a set of canned filters that will do it for you. Unfortunately, that's the route too often taken. I've never seen it done this well, this lovingly. Nowhere close. At this surpassing level, it's real craft. Kudos to the person who made these. They made a routine concept come alive.

People will scoff at the very notion of Photoshop craft, but why should they, when these same people are quick to attribute the failure of a lot of work on display here to crappy Photoshop work? Think about it.

the first two of this set don't work for me at all. copy feels uninspired. like they went with the first idea that popped in their heads. why would i expect to get carded or face an intervention when i'm ordering what is essentially carbonated juice? would you think the same about root beer? one does not get the same satisfaction from a non-alcoholic drink as an alcoholic one. to even insinuate that you will feels like a stretch.

on these last two, it feels like they lightened the tone up a bit and the ads feel fresher and more engaging as a result.
