Vision Electronics

Iron, Fast Cooking

Agency: Asiatic

Description

A feature of this product was that it would not burn your clothes if left unattended. The agency came up with a thought-provoking press for Vision irons; a press which features an iron-shaped burn on a piece of fabric and the face of Aung San Suu Kyi upon the iron’s plate. With over 500,000 Rohingya Muslims having fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar since August 25 of 2017 in the face of extreme inhumane torture, the press intends to amplify the failure of Burma’s de facto leader and Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Aung San Suu Kyi, to hold up her previously projected persona of basic decency, integrity and humanity.
The copy is in the Bengali Language, which roughly translates to “Those who care about peace, never burn things down”. The visual and the copy are both intended to convey the fact that unlike some elements in life which we take for granted as ‘trustworthy’, in this case Aung San Suu Kyi and certain models of irons, Vision’s iron is a high quality household electronic appliance that you can trust your peace and security with. It does what it promises to do, and never causes you any forms of unforeseen harm.

This professional campaign titled 'Iron, Fast Cooking' was published in Bangladesh in December, 2017. It was created for the brand: Vision Electronics, by ad agency: Asiatic.
