Description
This Pride Month, Tampa Agency PPK is partnering with the Rose Dynasty Foundation for a campaign to raise awareness of the stark realities faced by homeless LGBTQ+ youth, called “Where Do They Go.”
According to the Trevor Project, a staggering 28% of LGBTQ+ youth reported experiencing homelessness or housing instability at some point in their lives. The integrated campaign revolves around the poignant question — where do these homeless youth go, and who takes care of them? — with the title doubling as both a sincere ask and a call to action that urges the community to consider these vulnerable individuals and help find resolutions.
The pro bono campaign aims to not only bring the severe challenges these young individuals encounter to light, but also mobilize community support and resources to address these issues.
To bring “Where Do They Go” to life, PPK is taking a multifaceted approach to promote fundraising for the foundation and raise awareness of an issue disproportionately impacting LGBTQ+ youth:
First, an array of brochures disguised as report cards throughout Downtown Tampa will display revealing statistics about LGBTQ+ youth homelessness. The posters will be placed in areas where homeless LGBTQ+ youth statistically reside, compelling viewers to reflect on the question of where these children would display their report cards if they do not have a home — and standing as a stark reminder of the care and support they are cut off from.
PPK expands past the initial release of these “report cards” by creating a poster series intended for display at the Rose Dynasty Foundation, local businesses and on social media in order to disseminate the raw statistics to a wider audience and increase the visibility of the Rose Dynasty Foundation’s efforts.
The final component of the campaign is a video that poses thought-provoking questions like “Who would a teacher call if their student is homeless?” and “Where would a child take their student-teacher call?” These videos underscore the incredibly isolating scenarios these youths face and the lack of resources available to them, while also directing them to the essential support provided by organizations like the Rose Dynasty Foundation.
This expansion of PPK’s partnership with the Rose Dynasty Foundation —to further highlight the organization’s vital work for the Tampa community— is part of the agency’s ongoing commitment to embracing diverse viewpoints and unique talents by developing innovative approaches, bringing life to new ideas and creating an impact throughout the community.
