For decades, Pelotica de Goma, a simplified version of baseball, was the most popular street game in Venezuela. It was where future MLB legends took their first swings. But due to years of political, economic, and social crisis, the streets became unsafe, and the game slowly disappeared from the lives of new generations.
In 2023, Vacílate Esto, a Venezuelan entertainment brand and podcast, partnered with creative teams to bring the game back. They launched Pelotica de Goma: The Official League, transforming a forgotten childhood pastime into a professional sport. With celebrity managers, national tryouts, custom-built arenas, live broadcasts, and millions of viewers, a cultural memory became a national movement.
What started as an idea to preserve street culture became a powerful symbol of resilience, community, and Venezuelan pride.
