Description
The independent Pakruojis Manor Distillery produced a special drink to celebrate the triumph of justice – the imprisonment of Eligijus Masiulis. Why a drink? Because Eligijus Masiulis was bribed by a business conglomerate that dominates the production and sale of alcohol in Lithuania, and the bribe was delivered in a vodka box.
The product’s name – Paskoline (Loan Bitter) – plays on the word ‘loan’, as Eligijus Masiulis claimed that the bribe was a loan, and the type of drink – a bitter. Its design tells the story of corruption.
Loan Bitter spoke to all Lithuanians as the entire country held its breath while following the trial. It embraces the sense of drama, political falsehood, and the bittersweet irony around this bribery scandal.
