Hinge Launches “It’s Funny We Met on Hinge” Campaign to Highlight Real-Life Love Stories
Today, Hinge unveiled its newest campaign, “It’s Funny We Met on Hinge,” which delves into the nuances of modern romance. By spotlighting real couples who ultimately connected on the app after unknowingly crossing paths in person, the campaign challenges traditional narratives about where and how love stories should begin.
The series shares the journeys of seven real-life couples who experienced near-misses in everyday life—whether through mutual connections, overlapping neighbourhoods, or fleeting encounters—but finally met after a match on Hinge. Through seven intimate films, these couples reflect on their romantic paths, discussing initial hesitations about dating apps and the serendipitous timing that led them to meaningful relationships.
Featured stories include:
Claire and Christian (NYC): Childhood neighbours and Little League participants who only reconnected after a Hinge “like.”
Andrea and Joshua (NYC): Andrea once saw Joshua in an ad campaign and remarked, “I need a man like that,” years before meeting him on Hinge.
James and Cassia (London): Crossed paths twice before matching—once at the winery where Cassia worked and again in a park where Cassia was crying over an ex.
Telly and Kayla (Los Angeles): Discovered a mutual connection through Telly’s cousin, whose college basketball games Kayla managed.
Matthew and Gus (London): Met at a theatre cloakroom just a week before connecting on Hinge.
Anngel and Jataun (Los Angeles): Realised after matching that Jataun knew Anngel’s family from his childhood in San Diego.
Sarah and James (Los Angeles): Connected on Hinge shortly after James followed a niche lit magazine edited by Sarah.
“Love rarely happens the way we imagine, and that's what makes each relationship so special,” said Jackie Jantos, Chief Marketing Officer at Hinge. “With It’s Funny We Met on Hinge, we hope to inspire daters to embrace the unexpected and extraordinary ways their own love story could begin.”
This campaign builds on Hinge’s “No Ordinary Love” anthology and is part of the app’s ongoing “Designed To Be Deleted” platform. Directed by India Sleem of Serial Pictures and created in collaboration with creative collective Birthday, the films highlight the serendipitous moments that often define modern relationships.
“In this campaign, real couples share how their paths intertwined, capturing modern romance more authentically than any script could,” said Corinna Falusi, Founder of Birthday. “These stories demonstrate that love can emerge from countless opportunities—whether online, offline, or a blend of both.”
The campaign will run across social media and streaming platforms in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia from December 26, 2024, to March 2025. Beginning in January 2025, creators will also share their own surprising Hinge success stories, adding more voices to the celebration of unexpected connections.
This professional campaign titled 'It’s Funny We Met on Hinge' was published in United States in December, 2024. It was created for the brand: Hinge, by ad agency: Birthday. This Film medium campaign is related to the Other industry and contains 4 media assets. It was submitted 11 minutes ago.
