I think before start thinking you should made a search for older campaigns of your client.
I know that it doesn't sounds good but this idea done before,
years ago for wwf (logo's of Metro Goldwyn Mayer, Puma, Peugeot etc whithout animals)
Keep trying.
I think it would be a bigger deal if it was stolen from another company's. But this is WWF repeating its own ad pattern, what's wrong with that?

i had a school partner who even won a festival with this ad like 5 years ago!
