"Dammit, who put a question mark in the teleprompter? For the last time, anything you put on that screen, she will read!"

Funny spoof.
The original one is still the best, the actor too.

1502109 views now - will probably get more. Can't say it's too bad.

Creative, meh, not really genius, unlike the original of course, but I still like it, it's a funny spoof and I think a lot of guys will be happy they finaly have their version ;p

Perfectly placed for the target audience, sadly, and sadly therefore a very successful ad.

I cannot tell you how much I despise this ad. I wouldn't even call it a spoof. I'd say that it almost even cheapens the original - as if ladies were not constantly force fed this stuff every day - from fake eyelashes, to fake boobs. There's something charming and humourus about Isaiah Mustafa's arrogance, but this is just cheap.

Of course it is. In the UK, that's *entirely* what the 'brand' is - the original tabloid rag, with predigested news in pureed chunks with 'Page 3' devoted to 18 year olds with their tits out. It's a horror of a publication, and this advert encapsulates it perfectly.

This is the best iteration yet, in my opinion. But these parodies need to stop now.

Grover (Smell like a monster http://adsoftheworld.com/media/tv/sesame_street_smell_like_a_monster) does a waaaaaaaaaay better performance than her!!!!!! Not good

Agreed, the Grover version is much better and that only came out recently so for the Sun to do it straight after makes no sense. The only reason it's getting view is because people know it's a spoof and want to see how good or bad it is. Unfortunately this is really, really bad.

Are ads supposed to be tasteful? No. Is it nice when they are? Sure. Is this ad tasteful? No. But does it need to be to get their audience to buy what they're selling? Nope. Just like the Michael Bay- Victoria's Secret ad (http://adsoftheworld.com/media/tv/victorias_secret_one_gift_a_thousand...)...crass and exploitative (not to mention explosive) but it's aimed directly at its target audience and it hits the bulls-eye. (And btw, they're not fake...gravity is showing the truth)

Pretty girl, but sadly she can't deliver the lines. Big post-prod mistake at 00:33 on her hair which I wouldn't have seen if she wasn't covering herself.
But I got the message, The Sun page 3. Congrats for that.

Why do advertiser love to criticize ads from other advertiser? It´s fun!

CuriousPencil's picture
CuriousPencil

I'll tell you why. Because we're all in the same business, and we all have our own opinions on what works and what doesn't. We've all got a clear idea that we have to sell our clients' Stuff. After that, different styles and strategies and words and pictures and opinions and discussions and arguments and laughs and tears and eureka moments and pizza get involved. All or any of which can take a brief down a road to glory or to a hell of justified derision. I can see that this ad works. I disagree with its method, but I know its target audience and that the client is a byword for braindeath, but it's still an effective ad, so my dislike of the subject matter is irrelevant.

This is, among other things, a forum for constructive criticism of work from our peers. We're thankfully allowed a certain amount of leeway since we're all in the same business, to varying degrees. Which means we don't have to be polite when we see a shit ad. The people who make shit ads should stop making shit ads, or stop posting them where we can tell them The Very Truth about *why* it's a shit ad. Unless they want to find out why it doesn't work, so they can do better next time, which is what everyone wants for everyone.

This is the long version of what I'm about to say: Advertisers criticise. Good advertisers critique. Great advertisers learn from the difference.
