Friend request

Published/Aired:
November 2011
Description:

HIV spreads via sexual contact. Polish Red Cross decided to warn young people, how dangerous it is to have sex with someone you barely know. We used basic feature of facebook as the main medium of communication – Friend Request. We created a profile of a beautiful young woman and sent the friend requests to young polish facebook users. They had to decide whether they want to confirm the relationship, basing only upon her name and photo – just like it happens in a pub when you meet someone new. If they confirm the request, they can see the only post that Alice has on her wall – a video that reveals how the facebook user met her. Facebook user becomes the hero of the movie. By this way we warn people to be more cautious in real life and not to accept sex proposals from the strangers.

Seriously? So that simply says no one HIV+ could have sex anymore? There are too many wrong messages on this ad about HIV/AIDS..It firstly creates a very wrong impression on society about the people carry the infection.

the link to facebook feels forced. borrowed interest.
the idea isn't fresh or new. it's not even shocking anymore, I've seen those messages to often and much better.

"She's HIV positive. Now you are, too." I got HIV from touching her panties? This could be a condom ad, but telling people not to fuck strangers is just naive. Strangers are the best!

it's nicely shot; clear reference to Prodigy's clip, but at the end you don't feel that it revealed some new truth. It's cool idea with sending invitation, but I'm not sure if it demanded shooting kinda cliche-typical film. If it's cyber would it be proper if it touched cyber-sex.
If i haven't read the description i would never guess that facebook part in this particular clip is explanation of real life situation of campaign media linkage.
So - before you use this commercial dear commenter, please read the description and consult with your doctor.

The problem with this commercial is that it implies that sex with strangers would always lead to HIV. That is not true. Also, what if the guy in the video did use a condom? We can't tell whether he used or didn't use one.
