Why is this kid in the middle of the desert in the first place? And why did that real car only do laps on some weird'ish platform? I wanna see jumps, lookings, eexpploosions.

Hehe nice, c'mon isn't that what Hotwheels are about? As a kid you wanna imagine explosions and cars flying through the air ;p not creating circles in the sand like a girl;p

You're correct and I totally agree with you.
Could've been done so much better. And it missed out on that little insight which makes it all, as you mentioned above.
Good try, though...

Think the clue might be in the explatext beneath: "This is the first global brand equity spot...", the sun[rise/set] backdrop, the slow start, have the hallmarks of the slow shark in Jaws. This was/is a [new] beginning. Had my 80s self going a bit pitterpatter heartstrings. Obviously the start of a continuing set, a nice long-game campaign if ever I saw.

to me not the greatest of ads.

No concept,no fantasy, plus is referred to kids that seems to me so unfair. The kind of ad that has nothing to say.Just a kid feelings teaser.Toys ads should be referred to parents and illustrate them the benefits etc.
