Chuckleworthy yes. Offensive? To profanity virgins sure; no doubt it'll also be flagged as stereotype mockery, but I think the question is how knowingly this was done. For me, the answer's in the magic tag 'banned' - that surefire flamethrower for viral forwardability. I want to believe this was minutely engineered, the whole thing, but I wanted to congratulate the uncredited copywriter too; so I'm slightly stumped.

As a selling vehicle, it's forgettable. But for getting people talking about the brand? Full marks.

That's just wrong even if it goes viral, which it did with over 100,000 views...

I wish someone would just film someone taking a shit, and then put a logo on the end of it.

It would go "viral", for sure. But does that mean it's good advertising? Is that what we really want to be rewarding in our industry?

This is self-indulgent, juvenile crap. And it's SCAM.

We're better than this.

Was done in 1961, and was rewarding to the tune of EUR+100K. http://www.tate.org.uk/tateetc/issue10/excrementalvalue.htm

But regardless of its juvenility and its self-indulgence, it's down to effectiveness at the end of the day, however grand we try to keep ourselves, however much we want to protect our craft from being sullied by its very reality as an industry, there will be always advertisers who call themselves artists, and *ssholes who get paid by naive clients for the same reason Sirvan. Sad truth is we drink from muddied waters, and there is no collective 'we' that can be persuaded not to sh*t in the stream, or voices on the shore who won't be goaded as traditionalists or purists or w*nkers by those who go for the easy think. But you know what? F*ck 'em.
