Real gas in the tubes? Uhm, let me think, they're called vacuum tubes, hmmm..
I think that's the point. (He has no clue).
Makes me laugh every time.
What's with the three KT88 tubes in there.
Again, with the "gas" WTF?
anyone know who the actor is?
Charles Phillip Von Herrlich, he owns a wine bar in Brooklyn. Von.
Stupidity. Ten years from now, what will be worth more? A high end tube amp or some crappy rustbucket car? I'll take the amp.
Wow, Acura is high-end??? It must be true, the commercial says so.
They don't seem to know much so maybe their car story is fiction too.
Like what the "rust bucket" guy says. One friend of mine has a ten year old acura, worth about $2000 with an purchase price of 25K. Another has a pair of 45 year old Marantz 8b's worth around 15K with an initial purchase price of what, $800 bucks?
I agree.
Hah, brilliant.
Sure, the tube amp may be worth more in years, but that's not the point. The point is that most people probably can't tell the difference between the sound of a tube amp and the sound of a regular transistor amp. Sure, you may be able to sell it to some other idiot for far more money in 10 years, but other than that it's pretty much worthless. The commercial is about _using_ luxury, not collecting it.
What's the name of the actor in the acura gas tube amp commercial?
Chet Pierson
