Jupiter Drawing Room did this exact ad in January, 2008 for Design Indaba.
It's picked up a few awards.
So, in the wise words of just about everyone else on this site,(cue drum roll)... "It's been done."

There are already two television commercials that are made with "recycled film material".

True that's it's been done. but this is the English translation of the idea. It's Dutch and won awards in 2007 already. It's being aired also this year.(I know the makers)

This commercial made this year's Radio Lions shortlist. So it was already aired in 2007. It is rerun in 2008.

FWIW, one of our local radio stations has been doing this for two years for their station IDs.

Here, let me save everyone the trouble of asking. "Do you even work in advertising?"
