In films, a drum roll is usually employed in order to generate tension, leading to a solution, a surprise. That's why I think the line is misguided.

A drum roll causes tension, yes, and it's giving you goose bumps, along with the "truly stunning scenery".
A drum roll doesn't have to lead to a solution too quickly. Sometimes, it can even take 150 miles. The tension rises with the duration. The "solution" here is the summary of all impressions you picked up along.

I don't think the line is misguiding.

I'd be drenched in sweat after 150 miles of drum roll. ;)
But obviously, we've got different perspectives here.
