Tuna

Agency:
Published/Aired:
September 2010
Description:

Print advertisment created by Lowe, South Africa for WWF, within the category: Public Interest, NGO.

Only a tenth of the catch in long line tuna fishing is actually tuna.
Most commercial fishing gear is not completely selective. As a result many endangered sea animals are also captured. To ensure the fish you buy is caught in a way that is environmentally friendly, text our fishms number (079 499 8795) with the type of fish and you'll receive an sms back as to weather it's in the red, orange or green category.

It's a good work, but something makes noise in there: it says "a tenth" and it shows 5 pieces of fish...

maybe it´s worth considering that some tuna is endangered also?! Why make people feel good about a thing they should stop doing entirely: Stop eating any fish, or is there really that much left?! I do not think so! There is NO such thing as fish that was caught environmentally friendly!

Have you considered that people's livelihoods depend on fishing, and therefore if we can ensure that people select the fish they eat in a way that is sustainable, then we're helping prevent the plundering of fish stocks that aren't sustainable. Its called balance. Its also country/area relevant to certain species. Either way, a really nice ad for something that can actually make a difference.
