someone help me out here. how is it that just about every ad from france is in english? unless they're all translated for global usage...or for this site.

Man, they translate the ads to put on sites like this and awards.
Don't forget: French people hates english.

French ads are all the same. A lame idea with a amazing photo treatment. Small pack shot in the low right corner and a tagline that took the copywriter 2 minutes to write.

Oh my good, what's wrong with you guys?! This ad says that the Touareg would easily run over a normal police-car. It's a hyperbole that says "this car is gigantic". Maybe the peeing cop is a hint too much (I don't think so), but altogether it's a funny idea and everyone will get the point - that's all an ad should achieve.

there is nothing wrong with us. we have opinions just like you.
this "hyperbole" isn't saying anything about the touareg being gigantic. it's supposed to tell us about the ground clearance. which is 11.8" with the air suspension, without air suspension it is 9.3, wich is nice and impressive.
putting one cop car on top of another is far fetched and ridiculous looking in my opinion and doesn't really apply to ground clearance. yes you have height, but come on, 11.8" isn't so high that it will clear these cars.
if anything, to me, it says that the touareg can plow through these cop cars.

Never heard of monster-trucks running over cars???!

Yes, I have heard of monster-trucks. The touareg does not compare to a monster truck, the set up doesn't remind me at all of any monster truck show I've had the pleasure of watching.
the clearance on a monster truck is way way way higher than the touareg.

You just don't get it... The ad compares the Touareg to a gigantic car (like a monster-truck) - for sure that's not exactly realistic, but that's why people call it a hyperbole.

hy·per·bo·le [hahy-pur-buh-lee] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun Rhetoric.
1. obvious and intentional exaggeration.
2. an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”

this word, is thrown around alot on these boards. just because it's hyperbole, doesn't mean it's any good.
i do get it. i don't like it.

Yeah I kinda like it. Reckon the guy peeing is funny too - makes me a bit sad people don't see the funny side to this ad. Way better than a whole bunch of crappy car ads you see around that's for sure.

I agree, it is a good Ad, we dont have to talk shit about every Ad is posted over here, is good to make comments about the details, but nobody take the time as we do (ADVERTISING PEOPLE) to make such critics about the ideas. I think is is a good Idea and good art direction too.
