In my opinion, it's far away from Volkswagen tone of voice. And the association between cars/motorbikes and something flying (from planes to rockets, and even birds or arrows) has already been done. Therefore, sorry, I can't really see any improvement! DDB also aired a tv commercial in Italy, based on the same concept of this print ad, and it looks even weaker...

haven't seen this idea, or this layout from this client in the last 10 years, except the one Dave Dye and Co did, a good few D&AD's ago.
