optical illusion doesn't work for delivering such message (low consumption), for the simple reason that it's illusion and not reality.

I think it still works, because if you have a low consumption car it does feel like you always have more gas in the tank.

this ad is selling the low consumption benefit to people who didn't have it yet, it must be convincing, and playing with illusion with this benefit in this way doesn't work for me. With the charge load and the comfort "distance" it work much better.

I think this one is the nicest association: big consumption with big engine: you feel that you hardly have any petrol. Low consumption with a small and powerful engine: you feel that its way more, as you can get way more far with the same (always). Its so simple and nice...
