Volkswagen: Art / Piano

Founding esplanade partner

The aim of this campaign is to announce Volkswagen as a founding partner to Esplanade, Singapore's premier arts centre. An evolution of the previous year's campaign, these ads draw a parallel between the passion of artists towards their craft and that of Volkswagen towards its engineering (Piano, conductor Abstract painting).

This is definitely the worst ad campaign I've seen in my whole life!!! THE worst!

This is creepy.

A bunch of sour grapres!

a car as a piano? lol....hahahahahaha bad

sour grapes? are these great ads?

im not sure i get the shadowing effect. but please, everyone, use constructive criticism, just saying you hate it doesn't get anyone anywhere.

1) this campaign is too forced.
2) the use of the car as a piano is ridiculous.
3) the movement makes him look scary
4) too many spot lights.
5) if it's a piano concert, where are the audience?
6) the perspective of the car is wrong.

and more

I agreed totally! Hey look at the VW logo carefully, it is not quite right either. Hmm... ... it must be a scam ads?

Except for the placement of the lights which could have been arranged in an informal balanced manner to give the whole image more movement and passion, the idea was really good in relation to its partnership concept.

The other critics should have seen more than just what their eyes can see. The concept was really very nice indeed.

That looks like a car trying to eat up a man and you can see him struggling.

This is a typical case of the client telling the agency exactly how they want they ad to turn out. I'd give the creative team a little credit. I know who the people behind the decision to run the ad like this are on the client's side. The agency I'm sure fought tooth and nail for it not to end up like this.

I know exectly what you mean, but usually it's hard sell ads that turn out just as client requested. I was never ordered by a client to execute a conceptual ad.

but are you not suppose to show 'creative' ads in this blog of your's ivan? this uninspiring if not awful piece should just be kept somewhere else. with the client.

You are right. I want to show the cream of the industry.

I liked these ads. And, despite of the many negative opinions I still do.

I like'em too. Why is everybody so cruel?

Very bad art direction, probably done by a student...

i also dont think it's bad. i'm not getting why there is that blurring effekt, but its a nice way to show a mechanic doing his work with passion. it whould be cool if the background was a real workshop, that looks like an opera using such spotlights.
