A pretty solid campaign all round!

This one if my favourite of the lot.

These are pretty cool.

No big surprise that he invented something that would make white folks stop where they were told.

Eased up on the lynchin'.

Hola!

Doin' it for the points

Might have been better if they picked someone who actually did invent something which made a change in the world.

Garrett Morgan's 'Traffic Signal' was neither a new idea, nor did it have anything to do with traffic lights as we know them, or anything like what's pictured here. They weren't 'lights' at all.

Better research might have made a better ad.

Eh?

Did he or did he not invent the traffic lights?

I don't understand what you're saying.

Disco Munky's picture 3934 pencils

I think he came up with the idea that then became what we know now as traffic lights.

He just wants everyone to know that the guy didn't actually invent electricity or the colours green, amber or red.

That would be my guess.

he invented a *type* of traffic signal. it wasn't the first traffic signal invented or a predecessor to the traffic light as we know it today.

I agree with Yokel on this one. Open heart surgery was first performed by an African American. I think that's something that would make me think education more than traffic light and the scoop. I hope you guys understand what I'm saying.

but then there wouldn't be an excuse to use those innovative thought bubbles.

You could do it with internal organs laid out on a table, a kidney, an appendix, and a heart for the biggy! Or in splats of blood. Mmmmmmmmmmm

These ads do the job.

Hey Yokel, What flavor is that hater-ade you're drinkin'? Sour grape? Let Mr. Morgan have his due. He had many accomplishments and was no one-trick pony as far as inventions go. He also invented a respiratory hood similar to a gas mask that he used to rescue some men trapped in a tunnel. So HIS place in history is well deserved. You may want to focus on securing your own, and not so much hating on the achievements of others.

I agree with Yokel

This is disgraceful ad campiagn, lying to it's audience, with a complete twist of history.
The Traffic light was invented by an Englishman in 1868 (J P Knight)
Garrett Morgan was the first African American to apply for a patent for 'Inexpensive production of traffic lights', but was certainly not the man who invented the traffic light.
Shame on you Y&R New York. Bad Research, Bad Design, and very offensive to African Americans.

Sour grapes to those who do not give credit where it's due- re-writing history is usually done by those who oppress...

The art direction seems off.
