It sticks means something like it hurts.
I think it's becouse, at least here in Brazil, there is a pre-concept that a geek person is very annoing, and that he sticks on you, folows you around talking 'bout "interesting" things like Magic: The Gathering and "How to make computer bugs"... pain in your ass kinda of thing...
