This is coming perilously close to being a pun. Perhaps just as dance marathons and daredevil stunts tried to draw people's attention away from the dreary news of the Great Depression, the resurrection of the pun/ play-on-words/ literation butchering of the English language in the 70's shall make a triumphant return to mask our woes. Shit.
