Actually, SOS was used for the first time during the sinking of the Titanic. CQD (Come quick, danger) was used prior to the incident.

I disagree - I think the art is what pulls you in to read the copy - I love how the visual plays off of the copy and works on several levels (IE: it's what's underneath the surface that sunk the ship). This is strong work.

The artwork is what stops you. The "headline" pulls you into the body of the copy.
Either way, it's an "unignorable" ad no matter how you look at it.
Wish I'd done it.
