The sisterhood collective: Say no
Dowry. It's the dirtiest word.
Here are some posters or a women's organization, against dowry. In India, dowry is the amount a bride's parents have to pay the groom's family. Though banned by law, it's a serious social probem that cuts across the socio-economic classes. Client's still figuring out where to display the posters, away from the eyes of children.

I would love to see the clients face when you presented these boards.
..and this is the same country that jumped up and down over nude-less Playboy magazines?
I am inclined to believe this series of posters is a joke. Any woman hanging up a poster like this in India would be stoned (and not the good kinda stoned either).
Steve, I think you have mistaken India for Indonesia.
steve, ur mistaken again. I m from india and wud love to put the poster up my wall.. And ys, i d never be stoned for it!
<3
I first thought it said dairy too, but then I saw it's about dowries.
Damn, my uncle's gonna get a kick outta this (He's Indian- dowries
are a sore point with him and my Aunt)
I just wonder: where do they display these?
Looks like a magazine ad.
Deeparao: First of all, learn how to spell. Second of all, you have to prove it was from India, the subtitle remarks do not seem to be conclusive. All it says is that it is a problem in India, not that the signs were designed for India. Thirdly, like we need yet another female-centered organization. Fourthly, in the United States, I would do whatever I could to sue the company who put this into public eye, I don't want to have to explain this word to my 9-year old because you lack the ability to contain your anger. And lastly, what's so wrong about a dowry?
One more thing, incidentally, if you don't like the idea of a dowry, then don't marry him stupid!
very nice!!
Deepa rao: Your dad 'sold' you to your husband by paying dowry. Don't you realise that?
P.S: Stoning happens in Talibanised places only. India is not.
