very clever
Seen that, done that. Next.
Congratulations, you are the first "Seen That" reply. Very creative. Personally, I haven't seen this particular active/passive execution before... and I admire the simplicity of the thought. Next, yes, but just to admire the work.
dude. It is really done before. in:
one show 1995 (volume 17)
number 48 Bronze
Art Director: Taras Wayner
Writer: Taras Wayner
Client: American Lung Association of Maryland
Agency: Earle Palmer Brown/ Bethesda
I can't show you any images, but if you happen to find out the book of one show 95 in your agency, that's the information.
Too bad really this ad really copies
I agree...Blessilda Mok...you may think you're the shit...and that you've seen this idea before...but who the hell are you? seriously? this is the prolly the only 15 sec of recognition you'll ever earn...I personally don't like the ad, but I won't shred it...I'll simply not negate it.
Dear Blessilda Mok, can you please tell us who did that before and where can we see it?
It is unpolite to not do so...

I think it's nothing wrong saying 'seen that'
Yeah, seen that but it still refreshes my memory of a very creative and simple art work.
Pila
really nice and good art direction
This one is really smart, the other two were done to death.
get the idea in less than one second.
smart,but kind of familiar.
So what.
To All Those Who Comment In The Negative:
Stop being haters.
It's too easy.
And it makes our industry seem petty and spiteful.
We've all (intentionally or unintentionally) lifted.
We've all missed opportunities.
We've all stopped short of Great when we should have pushed harder.
So stop the bashing, please.
No one's perfect.
Plus, it's advertising for goodness sake.
Keep it in perspective.
And let's start following the simple rule all our mothers taught us, or should've taught us:
"If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all."
(And for all those eager to plunge your oh-so sharp and extremely witty verbal dagger into this plea...
talk about unoriginal.)
Lastly, if you think I'm a writer/art director/cd in the agency that created this ad and just trying to defend the work, I'm not.
I'm simply an avid Ads Of The World reader who is getting sick and tired of all the shredding.
There's more significant things to hate (discrimination, injustice, abuse, etc.)
Hating words, pictures, layouts, font selection, etc. is a waste of your incredible minds.
Now let's get back to doing our best with the time, information, and clients we're given.
good points. you should join!

I agree. :)
Mmm, I agree with a lot of what you're saying but these pages would be pretty empty if people only commented when they have 'something nice to say'.
The idea here is to critique the work right? Not just praise it.
Personally I don't like the haters either, there is no gain from simple stating 'Done'. But if it has indeed been done, and done better, I see no problem with someone pointing it out with a link.
What I cannot stand is personal insults to the creatives and the agencies, these people are just doing their job, if they made a crappy ad, it would be more helpful to explain why you think it's crappy and how it could have been better.
I belive constructive criticism is fine, we just don't see much of it here.
But I agree wholeheartedly with your 'Less Hate' sentiment.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. And please tell that to those who had nothing positive to say, spoke ill of Volkswagen ads here, the holier-than-thous, the scam and scum of the earth.

Even if most of you think this has been done before, it's a neat idea well art-directed. But, sadly, just like most anti-smoking ads, I doubt if it will have any effect whatsoever.
We have this ad in my country. It was made by Billo, my retarded brother. Why I no see his name on here?
Is anybody can show me that somebody stopped smoking because of this ad?
anyway try hard. Idea is good.
But as a smoker i learned nothing

Yes, already.
"Tobacco kills" is a nice old idea, Dreamigator.
But all you creatives out there should know INSIGHTS generate ideas.
The work is a reflection of the strategy and insight given on the brieff, not vice versa.
And if you've ever worked on tobacco, you'd realize just how freakin hard generating a NEW INSIGHT in this category is.
Ask Crispin.
They nearly gave up on the Florida Tobacco account.
But thanks to a brilliant INSIGHT at the eleventh hour, "You can't take away an act of rebellion without replacing it...hence, The Truth,"
they have made advertising history...not just with brilliant creative and execution...but with a brilliant INSIGHT.
How many of you out there are blessed with such insights on a daily basis?
Or have the manpower or talent or clients or budgets to produce those insights?
Until we have those, all we can really do is repackage old ideas, from old strategies the freshest way we possibly can.
I'm not excusing lazy advertising or lazy thinking or lazy execution.
We should all strive to polish our turds and old ideas the best we can.
But don't put all the blame on the creatives.
They can't do it all.
Nor should they have to.
So, next time you see an Account Planner...thank them.
Eeeeew. Planner? Ewwwwww!!!!
i really like it-
Clever indeed. Good ad. As the others.
Bang.

fan tastic work. easy but so straight to the point.
Un gran concepto. muy minimalista.
Da gusto ver piezas donde el copy es la clave.
da envidia
One Show...early 90's. Sorry man.
in fact it read "Suicide.......murder"

You know if it works why trash it? It may have been done in your world but not in mine so please, provide a link to the other ad so that we can all say yeah it has been done better or worse.
