I'd say they are a bit weak to come from Sony. Looks like they played off the Yahoo ads.
The idea is definitely not new.

But nice art direction.
JB, if you noticed they are both from Dentsu Brazil.
Just curious whether the team is also the same...
dear JB,
can you show me an ad that you could consider new, fresh and original? (if there still is such an ad)
If he cant i can:
Check all the honda ad´s from Wieden+Kennedy London, all the Mini Cooper stuff from CrispinPorter&Bogusky, some of the Playstation stuff from TBWA/Paris, all the Diesel ad´s, the old Benetton campaign....
I could keep going, but i guess you get the idea.
Of course everything we think up is a mixture of something we´ve seen somewhere else - be it art, music, movies or whatever but see it like a safelock: There are millions of combinations which havent been tried before.
So if you havent seen any fresh ad´s lately maybe you should start making them ;)
SOUTH PARK.(sense 1997)
Reminds me of the website where someone pixeled rock band etc.
Exactly. That is what makes this ad so good--compressed music visualised by pixelated bands/musicians.
Has been done - same idea, similiar product and even in the same country. The only thing that was different was the art direction - it was better in the original.
been done by a small speaker product (forgot the brand name) bout 3 years ago. anybody can help finding the speaker's campaign?
Hey budi i think tht's for boss small speaker.
thr's small madoana and the beatles... i don't rember the last one
dwarfs crossin a road, dressed like KISS.
well adbusta:
need i add anything else for you after this string of posts?
wieden's honda work is a great example of fresh new ideas. especially the honda 'grrr'. just brilliant. well listed, phil.
The idea itself is ok, but it's not that good executed. I first looked at the claim on top left "like no other", then looked at the pixelated musicians in the middle an started to think whether this was an ad against music bootlegs. Like if you copy movies too often, the quality will go down – I thought they wanted to communicate the same message for music via the pixel-musicians, as if they were saved to often in formats with low colour count.
Well, then I discovered the slogan on bottom right... and finally understood the message of the ad. I can't say whether its the weak idea itself or something else, but an ad that makes one think about it longer than one minute can't be that good.
'Like no other' is the Sony's tag for these few years. It's a worldwide thing.
But I understand your confusion if you are not familliar with the tag.
: : mystique : :
I've seen it done, at least twice.
The first one was a portuguese campaign for TMN.
And the second one, was from Chile - though I can't remember the product.
New ideas are welcome, please.
Exactly the same as the Observer Music Monthly adverts in the UK. Poor.
I believe the original idea was done by Mother UK for Observer Music Monthly
Ugh.. does anybody actually like U2?
Apple need to drop them soon because Bono is such a git - and now he's (I'm assuming) letting a rival company use their image too.
i guess almost everybody likes u2, cept probably u. the band isn't the point here man, the ad's concept is. and i'll bet u2 (or their management for that matter) don't even know they came out in a sony ad from brazil.
