distorted typography and the comic look for a jeweler?
this style may work for a discount supermarket, it doesn't for a jeweler's shop (unless they produce bubblegum machine rings)

nice insight badly executed. the art direction reminds me of strip ads in cheap newspaper. doesn't look like you're selling diamond ring!

I find it somehow funny that this campaign looks so awfully cheap, while one of the lines say "You won't find me at the mall".

Okay, they want me to think of SMYTH as an upmarket jeweller, with down market art direction. Hmmmm. Interesting strategy. These have nice headlines, but I think would have worked better if the photography made the diamonds look truly spectacular.

Let's think about the age of the young man shopping for an engagement ring. 23-35? Intimidated maybe by the big jewelry store experience? Hmmm? Here's a jewelry store that really stands out from the other stuffy, scary stores. They have a style all their own. I like them. They speak my language. And they're funny. I could use a little of that as I step into one of the more harrowing experiences of my life. Marriage.
