Forgive my ignorance here, but I suppose Tires are spelled Tyres in other parts of the world? This is the second posting with it spelled that way.

yep. thats how it was spelled before the americans bastardised the english language.

What's the origin? Someone said that it was British, but we in Canada still spell using the British dictionary. We spell colour with a u and favourite with a u, but we still spell tire with an i. I'm just wondering where this comes from.

..looks like they shoulda paid more attention in photoshop class tho...the kids and the see-saw are clearly from a different image than the background...

Yes, I checked, this is an ad from end of 2006, so you could've seen it elsewhere!

They could do something here with a tire swing. Not sure what the execution would be, maybe a kid stuck to the tree trunk or something.
Or the dad pushing the kid on the tire swing getting dragged through the mud cause he can't let go. There are a lot of possibilities. I like this ad.

I dont get it... if the two tires are the same (they look that way) them, both should be stick to the floor...

Or one is Firenza and the other not. It doesnt make sense... what. If the car is heavyer the tyre dosnt work????

not working for me

The way a see saw works, it would be impossible for them both to be stuck to the ground. I don't think they're making a comparison between the two tires in the ad. It's not like pepsi vs cola. They're showing the awesome gripping power of their tire in a fun and interesting way.

in the way a see saw works, the one in the ground should be the fat boy, just physics...

1 - the see saw should be broken and both kids grip to the ground.

2 - the fat kid grip to the ground, the small kid in the air but the tyre tooked part of the floor with it

3 - the ad suck. Not funny or interesting

4 - how the fat kid reach his place if the see saw was grip to the floor

And many, many more... im just tired

Your fat kid vs small kid is backwards. It should be the small kid stuck to the ground, because normally the fat kid would hoist him up into the air, but the tire is keeping the small kid grounded, despite the fat kid's weight trying to win the battle of physics.

i think the execution they went with works very well...however, number two from juan carlos javier bossis (oh how i wish my name sounded that fancy)is an excellent idea that would give this spot the extra shove that it needs...

I hear what you guys are saying. And now I'm going to be that guy that I usually hate - i'm going to be picky. There wouldn't be a part of the ground stuck to the seat because the tire didn't rip him out of the ground. THe tire is not a magnet that pulled the other kid off the ground with incredible force. Once the 'grippy tire' touches the ground, it's not going anywhere. Does that make sense? Again, I know I'm being super picky - purely for conversation's sake.

the_ashlands's picture

i see your point...but, i think the idea behind a piece of the ground being stuck to the tyre is such: the tyres grip is stronger than the blacktops bond to itself or whatever that stuff is. of course, the fat kid isnt heavy enough to tear a peice of the ground up just by sitting on the other end...but then again its just an ad thats exaggerating the reality of the situation.

Juan Carlos Javier Bossi's picture

Activity Score 143

you know, my english is weak so i try this...

1- One tyre is grip to the floor (the way a see saw works: one up, one down... right) so the little kid sits on the one grip to the floor. How and please tell me, the fat kid gets in the air.... how???

2- Lets consider then, that the fat boy reachs that position (flying), maybe the weight of the fat boy makes the little one go up but taking the floor whit it...

Sorry, its not working for me

The ad dosnt work for me

the photography fairly stunning. This one looks awfully photoshopped - not to mention the wrong

Forgive me but if they gripped so well would not both tyres be stuck to the ground and the plank bend like a bow? It could be construde that the fat kid has just pushed up and the skinny kid is about to do the same
