Image is fun but I don't have the clue :S
the poodle represents the nationality (French) of the car, and that it is beautiful and pedigree. It is on top of a cliff, showing the fact that it is a 4x4. So the dog's a metaphor for the car. Not a bad idea, not amazing though either...

The real funny thing about this, is that Koleos means..."balls" in ancient Greek. When you know that, it really changes the way you look at this ad...
In france it may be that a poodle is beautiful and has a proud pedigree, but in the US poodles are mostly associated with the snobby, effete upper class, and are thought of as delicate and wimpy. This would never work in the US.
