When I roll-over, a pop up says sushi. Otherwise I would not have know. I thought it was perhaps a pie-chart on a decorative plate.

Same here. I think partly because it's sitting on such a dark background you can't see any 'nori' circling the roll. That might have made it somewhat more recognizable as sushi.
