another way of gathering Inspiration

Exactly. There have been a lot of soundwave creative recently, but this is something slightly different. It doesn't compare with the Kate Bush cover, not in my opinion anyway. As you say, it's another way of gathering inspiration.

Totally agree. Unlike those advertising fashionistas who splash their posts across this site to put down every ad just because they have all the references, and would solely come up with the utmost original execution, i'm all for the greatest amount of imagery and influences you can gather. Especially if it's good. The link was out of context. It meant that, mutually influenced or not, they're both great pieces of work.

Right on.

I totally agree with you, they are both great pieces of work, and people are always hounding these pages with their 'seen it before' or 'similar to another ad i saw 40 years ago in an awards annual' types of comments, without being aware that they merely suck all the fun out of it and ruin it for everyone else.

If they feel it is too similar to something else they should ignore it and check out the next ad.

Ahhhh... I feel better now.

Er... oh yeah! I liked this ad incidently.

Peace out.

Mercedes Benz "Hear The Summer" Commercial.

The commericial has never been seen in cinemas (no one has seen it in german cinemas, no one has seen it on german TV)
Just made for awardshows. the truth.

and, there is one failure in the film. you can't here the summer in a fucking merceds benz with a big howl of the engine!!!
But the execution of the film was great. although very different to the print ad!

The original AD: SAMSUNG: natural surround sound systems.

i like the idea and the art direction. well done, guys!

Nice idea, relevant. Very well executed.

Love the visual. Love the copy. Perfect.

Very close to Mercedes' "Sound Of Summer", but I really love the visual and the line.

OLD!!

It might not be a fresh one, but the execution is excellent. So is the copy.

I love the copy, and the art direction is great. Don't care if it's old, as it looks refreshing from what's been done

Done before. Over and over and over again.

i want to dive into those pristinely flat waters to the bottom where i will find a single perfect white pearl. i will bring the pearl to Joseph Campbell and ask that he forgive us all.
i miss his comments.

I will be back. Have been very busy. Thanks for the beautiful words.

We'll reconvene at 10.

that's all i needed to know. sigh.

I like this, most viewers who are into sound would get this immediately.

And THAT'S the problem. Too easy. Too 'done'. Too obvious. Too late now.

The sound wave idea has been done to death.

Is there really a problem with ideas being done before if they're good and they're not entered into awards shows? Who does it hurt?

I'm just curious...

done to death

If you ask me (and yes i know you didnt, just a figure of speech) Than it really doesn't make a big diffrence if it is done before, as long as there's enough time between them and it's not completely the same. What they did here was giving this execution of the well known audiowave a different tone, a feeling that corresponds with the brand. Maybe it is the same general idea, but the made it theirs and they did it their way.

I'm witchoo on that one.

I've seen maybe three times this ad before...
