I think it refers to the more poetic expression of being stone hearted, also known as cold hearted, ice hearted, etc. It refers to a person who has no emotions or compassion to his enemies. For example an asassin in a first person shooter game.
You may argue that this concept is a bit far fetched, but for those guys who play killing games all day long, it does makes a lot of sense.
