interesting i wonder how the everyday consumer would react to this ad. but im sure the creator already had placement in mind like game magazines or somethign.

This is great but the exact same thing done as an ambient piece also for PS2 a couple of years ago.
They basically replaced the signboards at a bus stop shed with bubble wrap. I think they even had the exact treatment of having the bubbles labeled as PS2 controller buttons. The shed was then branded with PS2 colors and logo.
If i remember correctly, it picked up quite a bit at award shows and can be seen on THE WORK (among others)

Are you people all 1st semester students? The idea is just a very nice rip off of a recent cannes winner. A chick was wearing undies who where made of this material with the ps2 symbols on it - CLOSE UP ON THE MATERIAL. So yeah - cool ad, but very obvious inspiration.

Sometimes i wonder if people think they can copy everything and people wont notice. I know that it happens way too often that a copy get´s an award but it´s still the exception not the rule. Really makes you think.

I dont say they copied intentional, but let me ask you one thing: if somebody does an obvious award ad what should he know about the business? At least the stuff that won in Cannes. I just think it´s plain unprofessional - intentional or not.

I agree Nite, is this advertising?? iknow its copied and i know its ps2, but what the heck.....We are all advertising professionals so we are aware of the message. What about the ordinary reader? does it say anything at all? any call for action? All you "appreciative" guys, answer this.

As far as i know it started with a print ad - like i mentioned before, it was a chick grabbing into her panties which where made of that material. That´s the one, that one in Cannes. Then came the Malaysian bus stop poster and now this. So it´s a copy of a copy.
No, it's not done by Publicis Amsterdam.
It's done by TBWA Brand Experience Company in Amsterdam.
Made by Ralph Wilmes and Rene Bosch for Sony Playstation.
It has won a Lamp in Holland and yes, it has been done before.
For the record: this ad was on the Cannes shortlist in 2005!
The PS2 Ambient Bus Stop won a bronze lion in 2006. One year after the ad!!
So who is copying who?????

To be fair to the guys who did this though, I doubt the replication was intentional. This sort of thing really happens a lot in our industry.
Doesn't change the fact that its been done of course.

Believe me, kids and young adults know what those symbols are.
This work is done by Publicis Amsterdam... don't know the art director directely. It won a price at the ADCN.
the PS2 Ambient Bus Stop that had this exact idea also appeared in the latest ONE SHOW annual
EEEXXXAACCTTTLLYY similar idea won a one show pencil in 2004. it won a few other awards as well, including a cannes lion. just a coincidence i guess.
