For the remote possibility of sex.

Still, gets the message across I suppose.

Weak as.

Neil Levy's picture 316 pencils

i think maybe there's a logic leap problem. the remote has a condom on implying that by watching playboy, it will want to have sex (since there are lots of sexy women to watch). the condom would imply safe sex. and not getting pregnant. but mostly men watch playboy so the concept would almost seem to be targeting women? it's all a little confusing. but that said, it's only an ad and it's more interesting than most so keep plugging away and you'll get an even better one soon.

question for the art director or any art director: recently, i've noticed a lot of advertising from china has red backgrounds. i know about the power of red in terms of feng shui. and i know about the importance of red in terms of the national flag of china. but how does it add value to this ad?

give an explanation when you can.

be well,
-neil.

LeeMoh's picture 320 pencils

Does really the red color need any justification when talking about sex? What'z up Neil?!

play safe ,watch safe

teenquey's picture 296 pencils

what's that white thing on the tip of the condom?

gango75's picture 230 pencils

Some people use their remote controls inside a nylon container, i think this ad replaces it with a condom..

mishkaa's picture 300 pencils
weedtweed's picture 64 pencils

yawn.
art direction's pretty weak.

zmekyus's picture 120 pencils

i like simple stuff, but i agree thi is kind of ridiculous

walkingonsushi's picture 7 pencils

the condom is for preventing brown stains on the remote???
so boring...so weak...

LeeMoh's picture 320 pencils

Crikey!

I find it cool. Yes it’s quick and expected but neat, simple and has its impact.

I bet if this ad was done by any high-hype-type agency then some of you would fall in complementing as if it is the award cracker of the year!

neuclone's picture 63 pencils

Very easy.

Neil Levy's picture 316 pencils

Lee Moh, Even though I don't totally get the logic of the ad, I wasn't making fun of the ad in any way. My question about the red was genuine whether you believe me or not. I'm always curious why art directors make certain choices and I was just wanting to know why the art director on this ad made the color red. Does red mean sex? Not everywhere. But maybe in China. Which is why I asked.
Be well,
-Neil.

Bad. Expected. Loosing opportunities with a client like that.

Neil Levy: Can't answer it in terms of all ads, but yes red is somewhat of a "sexy" color. e.g. Red Lips, Red Exotic Sports Cars (Ferrari), Red Lingerie, Power, Hot, are just a few examples of where the color red can really relate to the word sexy. Granted there are other colors that can be sexy, but red goes back a long time. Hope that answers your question.

Guest's picture

come on guys, the condom is on the remote so it doesn't get dirty...
