That's what advertising is all about. Good advertising that is. It's about carefully weaving a clients message into the daily fabric of a person, in a way that seems as an extension of it, not an interruption. The funny thing with opportunities is that they can't be planned before the fiscal year rolls in. They can't be worked as system. And as like an unexpected guest for dinner, you don't have enough in your plate to give away to it. Opportunities just show up and a true creative advertising agency is the one that finds or creates a way for their business partners to harness the power of those opportunities.
This is a recent example that, in my humble opinion, is just WONDERFUL.

Too bad you know he's going straight to a breeder.

no, actually, obama stated clearly in his first press conference that their "preference is to get a shelter dog", so yeah, i agree with AEQR that the agency has brilliantly capitalised on an opportunity here.

Just because Rookieoftheyear was the bastard spawn of some bitch in heat, now he's all pissed off at anyone who wants a non-fuck-up for a pet.

Go chew on your ass worms some more, freak, and stop letting your stubby digits get your country ass into trouble.

You stupid prick faced scrotum.

Reading all the comments I realized that the commenters don't seem to critically analize the ad instead, they've appeared to be sort of "watchdog" to see what the president elect does next!!

For me, as a creative director, I would simply say about the ad as "excellence at par", well articulated. Succesfully knocked the puls and time.

i get a feeling as if you guys were waiting for this kind of a trampoline to push yourself into the eyes of a prospective viewer. This is nice chance taken and delivered. i agree with AEQR like an extension not an interruption.

that ad makes me want to spray rogaine all over my body and break out my spiked collar in hopes that i'll get adopted.

I agree with AEQR. This is a great way to exploit a current affair in favor of a very relevant brand and at the same time put a social message across, in this case stray adoption. Whoever thinks pure creativity for the sake of creativity is the only way to do great advertising is very narrow minded.
Very sweet, very relevant, spot on! well done!

I read somewhere the president of Peru offers Obama a dog of a special breed to congratulate him. The dog is completely hairless (Obama's daughter is allergic to dog hair).
Even the most ridiculous news items can give you content to discuss ;)

Hairless, like Mr. Biglesworth?

I think Obama needs that Dr. Evil image
