I think this ad is trying to say that dirt is good because only getting dirty you can develop your talents and be successful one day at painting (in this case), the visual isn't helping much.
Maybe I'm missing some cultural nuance, but feels very confusing.

Yes I agree. At the "end" of the illustration (top of the shadow) there should be like a part of a museum with her painting (behind red ropes and security glass maybe) and people taking photos.
