The car needs to be sexier for this to work, but the idea is still alright.

1- cut the creative team in pieces.
2- discard agency.

super cool car. this is awesome engineering. i dont mind the ad as i have a liking for the car... about time a good car entered a 'hey look we think this is a sexy car' ad. its a bit like BMWs M3 ad with the pin marks in each corner, but it feels fresher, newer to me. It fits to the reality of the car. i would keep that picture... and in terms what magazine it is, i'd toss it after ive seen the pictures.

sexier? this car is INSANE

Think it for a while.
Then, in anytime, it will come to your mind as an idea.

Guest's picture

what is that, a pinto?

Guest's picture

If that isn't a sexy car, I don't know what is.

Guest's picture

Nice idea. I dig.

Discard magazine? Can someone help me understand this ad?

Copy_Can's picture

Car enthusiasts love to have pictures of cars they love, and the 350Z definitely has a huge following.

I can see people cutting this out and pinning it at their desk at work.

It's a nice ad.

Guest's picture

and those people would be called dorks

Crisp One's picture 2031 pencils

and those people are a target market with disposable income........stupid comment guy.

Guest's picture

i think the people that pin up the car, have not enough income to buy one.

p.syche's picture 268 pencils

oh come on!
do YOU have frustration issues??? if someone wants to pin up a picture of a car it's their option. maybe they think it's better than a stuck-up modern art painting that noone understands (cause there's nothing TO understand) but they still admire it...

anyway, the add is pretty awesome, a great example of thinking outside the box!

Cars look better facing left to right. This looks backwards.

kalebjake's picture 6 pencils

True, but by reversing the image, this ad grabs your attention and focuses it on the "cutting" line at right.

In this case, the right-to-left model works... great ad.

If anyone doesn't think that car is a beautiful piece of design, one probably shouldn't be judging ads where design is a big component of an ad's effectiveness. Stick to judging copy. This car is hot.

Guest's picture

If you're actually going to make it a "poster" then at least center it AFTER the cut, not before.

Great concept though!

Copy_Can's picture

No. That's like saying "Hey! Here is a poster, cut it out and enjoy". That would defeat the whole idea of the ad.

The idea is this:
1. We made an ad as we normally would, focusing on the car as it is pure sex.
2. NOW we know some of you would want to keep this, so here are the instructions.

Any car with only two seats is for sad old men with no mates, or douche bag young punks who don't know what style is.

The '88 Lincoln Town car is a frickin' sweet car, this is just a penis attachment.

Funkafide's picture 22 pencils

So an 88 Lincoln Town car is which then, a brain or an ass attachment?

Disco Munky's picture 3934 pencils

Neither, it's just a cool car........really? ass attachment, really?

It's shocking how much stupid shit you say here on a daily basis Dumb Monkey.

Disco Munky's picture 3934 pencils

Who cares about you? Seriously.

Couldn't care less about some prick who is clearly upset but can't understand why.

Here's another hint. It's because you're pathetic.

cheeky.

I agree it should be facing the other way, but this is perfect for the market. Very simple, minimalistic and very true.
I've never kept my auto mags but I always tear out the beautiful photos.

Be open minded! I thought this was placed here to be looked at conceptually, not about what the product is.

quite similar with another magazine ad of VW NEW BEATLE

Copy_ranter's picture 157 pencils

Wow... Too many effin egos in here. It's quite obvious those of you that are so opinionated in on these forums probably no nothing of advertising or have never won an award or recognition in your career.

This is a good idea. I bet the client loved it!

I had a Nissan for 5 years and I realized that Japanese make awesome cars. I did not have any trouble with it; I changed only the motor oil and tires in that car. I gave my car to a donate a car program, and I am sure that the new owner will be pleased with the car. Nissan 350Z looks very beautiful, and the ad is eye-catching. However, I agree with some users that the car should be facing the other way, but this does not alter the image of the viewer upon the car.
