My favourite thing to do when I would go out and play in the fields across the street as a child, was to find a snail. I would watch it and when I worked up the courage, I would touch it's tentatacles and watch it retract. I didn't know I was poking its eyes.

I don't poke their eyes anymore. It makes me a bit sad to remember doing it, and enjoying it so much.
I do all kinds of stuff. Gross stuff and beautiful stuff, sometimes, grossly beautiful.

I used to throw my lunch and pick up little snails from my school sandpit and take them home in my lunchbox. Then i used to paint their shells! Poor things...

hmmm..maybe for the poor snails..but i think these lucky hermit crabs can actually choose to get out n change their shells if they want..
