i dont get it either. I used to be a smoker when i was a teenager and i used to love hanging out in dark alleyways smoking. This ad aing gonna stop no one from smoking. Just give up guys, its a drug and people will only stop if they really want to.
i think that (good) anti smoking ads are immensely important. of course they won't ever make anyone stop smoking instantly. their task is to decry smoking and the smoking "lifestyle", or rather remind people of the dangers of smoking. anti smoking campaigns are necessary as an offset to the "coolness" image of smoking that is still being spread by films etc.
but i also doubt that this campaign could discharge this task
i don't know if i got this right... as south african law banned smoking in public places & workplace, smokers go to these alienated dingy alleys for smoking.
That's the only thing I'm inferring from this ad.
in that case, is not SMOKING what takes you to this places is the goberment ban. Knowing this it makes me wanna smoke in a legislators face, and im not even a smoker.
