I didn't understand it. can anyone tell me, plzzzz

ivan's picture

I think it means you can become rich.

A. Beruto's picture

It's about the effect that Monopoly has on people. A communist becomes a capitalist, a believer in god becomes a believer in fashion, and a peace loving hippie becomes a capitalist pig. Roughly put.

Erm... monopoly needs advertising?

Also... i thought it was a family game. Now it seems evil hahaha

All you need to go from being a “big business-corporation” hater to a rich capitalist conglomerate is one game of Monopoly.

I like the thought process.

Cant understand how none of you got the idea: The logo of Mercedes Benz has changed, nothing else....and it still continues to be the monopoly in the luxury car segment...grow up guys

A. Beruto's picture

How funny.

yazaino's picture

If it misled all these ad gurus, think of what it would do to the man on
the street.Simplicity needs a re-definition.

Guest's picture

it's the ad of the monopoly game not Mercedes Benz...you grow up or get smarter...

Guest's picture

the logo of mercedes has NOT changed, and Mercedes is NOT a MONOPOLY in the luxury car market, in fact, not even sure if it's market leader. The ad is simply not clear enough. Neither are the other two by the way. In my humble opinion, the campaign is a failure.

writergeekdez's picture 287 pencils

wow. i got it right away, even thought it was kinda funny.

but then i saw the misenterpretations. maybe it needs some retooling to eliminate them.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the ad.

^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^This person is wrong. And the “grow up guys” line needs to be reapplied to yourself guest.

It really is a reasonably simple concept and it has obviously done its job creating dialogue. Great Job.

made in the usa...kindly explain yourself...i'm sure you did NOT get the idea, and it shows in your stupid explanation...ok buddy, now tell me what this ad is about

WOW MADE IN USA U HAVE UR HANDS FILLED LOLLLLLLLL
THIS IS A BRILLIANTLY FUNNY AD AND LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF
INTERPRETATIONS IT GIVES OUT. THATS HALLMARK OF GREAT CREATIVE.

Ogbodo's picture

actually that's the hallmark of poor creative - every one has a different intepretation, and some are negative. Good creative is supposed to mean the same thing to most people, with some of them going, "wow, i would have never thought..." an ad that sparks controversy or arguments is good for the brand only in the sense that it leads to discussion, but it's not necessarily gonna help in moving sales - which IS what the brand ultimately wants

Ogbodo's picture

PS - what i meant by leads to discussion is that the audience will probably remember it. Just so everyone understands what i meant :)

MADE in the USA's picture 434 pencils

I still feel the ad is completely obvious. For those don’t understand, I really have nothing else to offer

Have a great day!

A. Beruto explained the ad very clearly. It's a visual idea taken straight from an ad in the Perception /Reality trade campaign for Rolling Stone magazine that ran in the 80s - a campaign that is often cited as one of the best ever. The number of people not getting it may not be down entirely to their stupidity, as the Peace symbol is seen and used a lot less frequently than it was 20 - 30 years ago.

obuks's picture

one wonders what they actaully want to sell? hey guys, one shouldn't sacrifice communication on the
alter of creativity. ads must COMMUNICATE unambigously!

coolchisel's picture 26 pencils

peace symbol means poor? I don't agree with it.
