But aren't the ads that appear in the Economist that talks to the upper crest and written well-thought out, too as boring as these? Direct and nderstod by anyone. Then y shudn't be these considered as good ads?

The fatal problem with this series, as far as I'm concerned, is one that all really huge brands are susceptible to: they're so widely known that they don't have to sell anymore. A great by-product of having to sell is that you create scenarios, metaphors, and analogies that engage. This just shows an attractive person who supposedly uses the product, a flaccid sentiment and the logo.

I wouldn't agree that a boring ad is ever a good one, even if it deals with a dull topic. The content may bore, but the way it's communicated need not ever.

but there are ads that are too too boring, put the blame on the client, and still the brand continues to be market leader. So if the brand sells, why cant the ads be boring. And if your say that's because such band can sell themselves, why make ads for it at all. After all ads are made for a pupose, not for entertainment. Adss are made for brands, not adsofthe world, rite?
PS: Even i love Lions. But its good to make things clear

Ads that do nothing more than say "why, folks just like you use this product" are inevitably boring to the consumer, but never fail to entertain the heck out of clients and marketing directors everywhere. Doesn't mean the people making the ads aren't good. But the approach isn't worth a dime.

When you go to get a credit card, you have exactly four brands to choose from, all with similar security and identity theft protocols in place. Each of the four companies has nothing substantial to say about the benefits of their brand over the others. This ad reflects that, in spades.

But are there boring ads and entertaining ads? I guess there are only effective and ineffective ads. If so, this one is effective right? Boring and interesting are for ppl interested in ads rite? If your ad says" buy me" and styill it can sell, should we make it more creative and ineffective? As i said, even the idea of making and that says " buy me" hurts. Cz even i love lions, a couple of compliments at AOTW, like any other creative.

I hear you about there being only effective/ineffective ads, and that the target for ads is average consumers, not other ad people, which is all you have here. You're right. I agree that there are two levels of boring -- boring to just folks and boring to people who do this for a living. I just happen to think this manages to be boring in both ways.
