i totally agree with you brandon (in case you meant it ironically).
i admit i'm not adept at the massai but as far as i know they are a normadic people whose identity is rather threatened by what we call 'civilisation' than by not having schools etc.
i think this is just our typical western civ. way of thinking. give money to the poor primitive people, evangelise them and replace their primitive thoughts by our superior ideals. i mean look at this poor guy, he's so clever, he should be a nuclear physicist instead of herding cattles.

I like this ad. True, the Massai are nomadic, they are also very wise and cleaver. You'd be happy to have one of them as a guide in the vast and extremely dangerous Kenyan jungle.
Without a doubt, what they need is education. They are loosing too much be it land, livestock etc. Their culture is also not very compatible to what the world has become. They live in a world full of laws and they need lawyers they can trust,they need teachers, engineers etc.
As for the watch, come on, this watch is very available and cheap! It costs less than 1$. And yes, I'm in Kenya. You guys need to visit.

come to think of it, do you really think these nearly extinct unique cultures need western brainwashing or protection from the facts listed above by B128? i live in Nigeria and I know how the west erodes cultures and values to the point where the massai would probably start having tea parties in suits by the end of the year. my question still remains simple, western education or culture preservation? wich is more pertinent to these people?
