A log as a tree is a nice idea, like a chicken as an alarm clock - but that idea is only understood when you see all ads together.

Not a bad set of ads.
Don't listen to that guy Jaap Grolleman, they work well alone as well as in a series.
You don't even need the body copy. Just the picture, the headline and the logo would work just fine. Well done
So you have a log, table, logo and payoff 'no shortcuts'. That's not very communicative. Seriously, you need to think about people who read magazines, not about people who visit Adsoftheworld.

This idea has been done to death. The best example is probably the old Foster's beer campaign.
