Nice thought.

Execution is pretty weak. Not like you'd actually see it this way on a cave wall... colors are to rich, text below feels like a cheap handwriting font...etc.

it should have been a stone plate inside a displaycase. and then the sign next to it or on it should have had the text... something like that.

The font of "the mayans..." is horrible, nasty.
