This is simplicity at its best. Using almost the full page in the middle of the classifieds to post one picture of their garlic sauce automatically brings all attention to the bottle in the middle. I can only imagine how expansive it is to print an almost full page ad like this.

Sure a similar idea may have been done before but did it not still grab your attention? I bet you still read the ad and saw who it was for so I doubt Heinz really cares how original you think the ad is. I thought it was a clever use of white space in an unsuspecting location which adds to the effectiveness of the advertisement. Heinz is a well known company and the simplicity of the words given is all that is needed to get their message across. It showed a new product and emphasized its characteristics in a simple picture and the words “Extra Strong Garlic Sauce”. Maybe a personal section in a newspaper seems like a weird spot, but is there really a good place for a garlic sauce advertisement? For every chuckle it will probably get a couple scoffs at its creativity but I still think Heinz did a better job with this ad.
