I'm obviously missing something, why is this so great?

Because this is simple and clear, because this is a new way to talk about sales and because we love Harvey Nichols, didn't you ?

Harvey Nichols is an inevitable clothes advertiser, and I would have liked to do this staff, I'm jealous !

Certainly NOT the best "sale" ad we've seen from this agency/advertiser, but if you're at all familiar with the whole evolution of the HN print campaign, you've simply got to love this one as well, I suppose.

I'm not going gaga over this particular piece, but it still makes me smile and most importantly, appreciate the fact that they haven't changed their strategy in, gosh, forever!

Erm... no its not! its nice but come on, it aint amazing. btw, your comment is transparent... youre the creative who put a 7star on his own work to make it out like its someone else who did it, then added a comment which makes it out to be a 10. btw! in ref' to 'TOOL's' comment, 'good because it's simple', i got 3 words, GO FUCK URSELF. simple doesnt mean lateral, bitch. TOOL by name and nature. Otherwise, i dont mind these... a little tame in each execution... could have been more detailed.

not sure - if u hadn't seen any of the previous HN ads, would you know what was going on?

Maybe. Maybe not.

It operates on the assumption that the audience is already familiar with their long-running "sale" campaign. And my gut tells me they probably are, especially in the UK after all these years...

Harvey Nicks have done some 'great' campaigns in the past and because of that there is still a tendency to call any HN Sale campaign 'great' but the truth is that it is not so. There's no brand that has ever produced 'great' work every single campaign. 'Good' work yes but 'Great' work no.

It's just that when you see 3 names in the same entry 1) Harvey Nicks 2) DDB London 3 ) Jeremy Craigen you tend to just start throwing adjectives around. This is the same for a large number of brand \ agency \ CD combinations and it happens big time at award shows. In my conversations with a few top award jury members they have revealed as much.

So Ivan, it would've been an interesting experiment to initially post this campaign as student work (without the correct credits) and then seen what the rating and the comments would have been. I for one think that they would have been considerably less complimentary.

Why isn't that campaign featured in AoTW then?
You're probably lying.

El concepto de HN es anterior al que se copió DDB México y ejecutó con maniquíes.
Ahora resulta que "done"... Jajajaja... sí, "done" pero por HN hace años!

What's next? Manufacturers of brands like Coby or SONNY televisions claiming their knock offs came first than SONY? That's Ludicrous.

Havey Nichols have been using the "Fashion worth fighting for" strategy for at least ten years. Your campaign is a poor rip off of the Harvey Nics strategy. Badly executed by the way.

WTF is Fabricas de Francia anyway?

Fábricas de Fracia is the copycat of the concept.

I've never seen the original. I know from portfolio school that HN has traditionally done some fun work with their sales ads.

I like it and I got it.

Although I'm not expecting to see it in my next copy of CA

You really need to get out more. The play on the tragic situation in a U.S. Walmart store of people getting trampled to death over holiday sale has made for the perfect use of these ads.

Yeah like Havey Nichols would suddenly turn to Mexico for inspiration, right. This execution is much better anyway.

Hi, I know I'm a noob and all and you've been raving about how amazingly creative these series of ads are... But, they've been done before by DBB's Mexican office in 2006!
