Taiwan did something like this before, they have Bees and spider bla bla, but the art direction of these is better.

Oh, I remember. I hope I can find it. The spider is really shocking. You're right these ones are quite similar to that campaign.
good thought but seen some where before....excuted well
I find this a really revolting and offensive advertisement, and i am not an AIDS sufferer. this is no diferent than the contraversial scare campaign in the 1980s with the Grim Reaper. It is wrong to demonise and portray AIDS sufferers in this way, as though they are death incarnate. Many people i know with AIDS lead fulfilling lives and are even married. ads like this infer and reinforce old ideas about AIDS, where ppl thought it was dangerous to even touch or be in the same room with AIDS sufferers.
I agree with Christine, without a doubt it demonizes AIDS sufferers, it’s saying: “the person you sleep with may come with a sting in their tail/…a nasty bite/…are venomous. Watch out!” How Slaghuis can see it as solely the virus and not the person having sex is beyond me??! Sure the ad is visually arresting and so I want to like it and yes it will make people think twice, but it’s a massive step in the wrong direction of solving the real problem – people’s understanding of the disease.
Unfortunately AIDS sufferers find it difficult to be honest about the virus because they are demonized by ads like this so tend not to tell their sexual partners out of fear of the reprisals. Though reckless with other people's lives, an infected individual is so scared of being discovered that they won’t insist on wearing a condom. First imagine the fear of dealing with the virus, then imagine being portrayed as a scorpion and how scared you are that others will find out and then imagine lying in bed with your long term partner without a condom. Now that's scary.
So sleep with as many individuals with aids (since you are so sympathetic to the disease) get the diseases and get back to us. Since aids is so harmless and can be avoided as easily as wearing a condom.
Have fun! yours truly,
An uninformed safe individual
P.S. you too Christine
That was rude an uncalled for. They are only saying how that more ads should be informative about Aids rather than make everyone into an ignorant hate mongering hill billy.
DEAR LORD ALL you people with all this negative words towards the aids compaign its something different and it gets people attention!!! remove the stick from your ass, stop and actually appreciate this new art instead of tearing everything apart!!!!!! i go to art school and i heard about this campaign i think its artistic and it gets peoples attention so it did it's job. Lets see your peoples art whose shitting all over this. Good job with sticking your negative views towards it.
The scorpion looks like an African EMperor Scorp, which is not inherently dangerous to humans, similar to a bee sting. Therefore I think the ad has missed its mark. Maybe a Brown Recluse, something that attacks you slowly, causing necrosis, would be more effective.
In the former context of the ad, it must be that their goal is to convince giant arachnids not to have sex with AIDs infested humans, and then, after seeing the good example set forth by these giant, but gentle, creatures, the youth of the world may be more careful about whom they sleep with.
BUT, if the ad is trying to to personify innocent arthropods as AIDs infested humans, personally I find this to be quite offensive and rude. And as a scorpio, I feel this ad campaign may be detrimental to my relationships and courting endeavors. I feel that the more stupid people of the world, and lets face it; thats most of the good looking ones, may subconsciously correlate scorpios with disease.
While this may not be a bad rule of thumb... It may prove fatally harmful to my own, along with countless other scorpios, "Game."
Ummm, that's fine. You can just join us Cancers :)
Besides, sometimes it's a good idea to warn people about The Dangerous Scorpios ;)
As for my on topic note, art will always be up for interpretation. PETA could be all over this, so could the furry community. At least it's making people think and discuss. Although I agree with your idea with the brown recluse... perhaps it could have condoms on it's mandibles? :)
No, that is man slaughter and warrants the death penalty. It really disgusts me how we let people willfully spread the virus. One reported infection after you have received test results, and you should be destroyed. There is a HIV positive german dude living in Thailand paying Thai girls to sleep with him, perpetual articles about him and how the Thai authoraties can't handle him because the law does not address this! hah! The law should never supercede common sense, and he should be shot and I can tell you without hesitation that I would end this kind of person in my own community. (Who am I to fly to Thailand?)
I come from Sub saharan Africa where 40% of pregnant mothers tested at rural clinics are HIV+. People like you are directly responsible for its spread, will your hyper sensitivity and argument effectively blocking any kind of shock tactic. AIDS is a real threat, and you academic ponces in your glass towers need a wake up call. AIDS is very real, but is awfully academic when you are looking at warm willing flesh, this might lead someone to think twice and if a single person practices restraint because of this, the entire campaign is vindicated.
Feel free to have sex with HIV positive people while using protection by the way, place full faith in petri dish biology and selective scientific studies that reinforce your moral prejudices that we should not be scared of intimate contact with HIV positive people.
I don't think they are attacking the people suffering from the virus. They are saying that the virus is a killer, not the person.
you mean the man is fucking a virus?
I thought it was the HIV virus, but the HIV virus is the person.
A person with AIDS will be offended.
I have mixed feelings. :(
it's saying 'know who you are sleeping with'.. the person with the AIDS might not know they have AIDS and might infect others without knowing. it is saying don't sleep with just anything that walks by, make sure they are healthy.

does anyone know where I can get the poster? My room mate really likes it!
Its saying dont fuck insects or youll catch aids!?!
