I like the idea. Not sure about execution, but that's probably just a "taste" issue.

7/10

puns make the world a better place.... even when they suck.

"I don't know Butchie instead"

Doin' it for the points

Pois é, as laranjas espanholas são tão ácidas que fazem buracos no estómaco, é um bocado isso.

Spanish oranges make holes in stomac....that' the ideia.

Paruku RabidLeroy's picture 112 pencils

Maybe it's about the juiciness of the oranges. In this case it's... it'ss lots of juice.

I said 'Wooo-hooo.' Happy now?

Ad Junkie At Large's picture 560 pencils

juice is slang for steroids or if you say "that guys juiced" it could mean that he is just really big and strong. i dunno if that's where they were going with this but its a possibility

Paruku RabidLeroy's picture 112 pencils

O.O
That... that's a lot of juice...
Man I never knew juice can be heavy.

I said 'Wooo-hooo.' Happy now?

I think the art direction is really nice in these, but I can't believe they have been as recognized as they have. Weren't these is Archive a months or two ago?

Seems a little obvious.

i agree, it seems like a first thought idea , i think its time to take that concept a little further

my old agency did the exact same thing for "really big pizza" 3 or 4 years ago. same executions.

I guess that's why it's now your "old" agency... ;D

Spanky's picture 2774 pencils

i believe they used the words, "pack your shit, you formulaic hack" as they proceeded to escort me from the building :-)

Seen. Way too much.

I don't really like the idea, I think it tells the wrong message. These ads tell me that oranges are heavy as a rock. I wouldn't want to eat an orange like that (or drink its juice). When thinking of oranges, I want to feel refreshed and body-wise somewhat enlightened, not rock heavy.

This ad is not saying "drink its juice and you´ll get rock heavy", c´mon. You have to connect both the image and the text to get the message, you can´t just look and think "oh, i´d never buy this kind of orange, i think i couldn´t even lift it up".

It´s a simple and well executed idea that works well.

nubloo's picture 528 pencils

You're right, the ad isn't saying that. But it does say oranges are heavy, despite the line. And this connection (oranges-heavy) disturbes me somehow, because heavy is contrary to refreshing.

Maybe it's because these ads break with the common style for this kind of fruit. Not that I'm not into new ideas! I use to enjoy breaks a lot.

Imagine taking a bottle of coke instead of an orange. Would you like that idea? I don't think so, because that's not the message coke communicates. Now coke is a brand and oranges are not, but there is a brand here, that's "spanish oranges", and the orange is it's product. And because oranges are in the people's heads as refreshing, soft, aromatic, sweet and light, you can't just bring along an idea like this one and apply it without being aware of that, especially with this product and the intended message. You have to embrace, pursue, or at least respect the current image of the product.

Maybe by just adding a sub or side area full of oranges, bright and... well, orange, that transports that message and says, hey, and the juice tastes good as well, just like you know and love it.

simple and clear. "loaded with juice".
maybe there could have been a spain reference since the ad says "spanish oranges" and "foods from spain".
the pattern on the floor looks terrible and distracting.
or is it maybe the reference to spain?

tantrik_indian's picture 953 pencils

It's like the orange had been deliberately placed at the edge of the table for the shoot. And therefore contrived. There is nothing else on the table.

~~this paranoid survived!~~

execution is dirty n idea is old!

the best is still to come

If it had nothing but juice in it, it still wouldn't be very heavy.
